Today we wanted to share one of our favorite recipes for carne asada steak and shrimp.
This is not only an easy recipe but so delicious that no one will ever know that it didn’t take you very long to make this recipe. You marinate your steak and vegetables such as peppers and onions. Then right before or during the cooking process you add the shrimp.
This steak and shrimp pair very well with rice and beans. But also pairs very well with some warm tortillas or even some corn chips. Typically, we serve this steak with shrimp, sauce and vegetables on top with rice and beans on the side.
This recipe couldn’t get much easier. All that you’re doing is prepping your vegetables by cutting them up into strips ahead of time. Then making the marinade and marinading the steak and vegetables for at least a day or a couple days.

This carne asada recipe can be made with other meats but in our opinion, it’s really been best served with beef or another red meat. But it would also be great with venison, elk, buffalo, pork, goat or whatever meat you prefer. This recipe also allows you to use up vegetables that might be going bad. We always get bell peppers with good intentions of using them for recipe but sometimes we don’t end up making it in the end. Therefore, this is a great way to use up a couple bell peppers, an onion, and any other vegetables alongside this main dish. You could even use some frozen peppers and onions!
This recipe is very versatile and can be paired with another starch such as potatoes, pasta, quinoa or couscous. By making this diluted marinade, it allows you to be able to reduce and cook it down and it doesn’t become too salty and is the perfect amount of flavor.
