While they are everything you love about brownies, they have a creamy French silk chocolate layer and then cool whip making them a decadent treat that hit the spot.
You can make a homemade brownie recipe which is listed in the recipe below for the brownie layer or if you are in a pinch, you can use a box brownie mix too. You just make the box brownie mix with the special steps below to make them taste even better. Instead of cool whip, you can use homemade whipped cream for the French silk layer and to top the dessert too.

French Silk Pie Brownies

Ingredients
Brownies
- 1 cup salted butter melted
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 4 tsp vanilla extract
French Silk Layer
- 8 oz cream cheese at room temperature
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 4 oz semi sweet chocolate
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter cubed
- 8 oz cool whip
Topping
- 8 oz cool whip
- chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 9 x 13 inch baking dish with foil or parchment paper and spray with non-stick spray.

In the bowl of an electric stand-mixer, add the melted butter and cocoa powder. Blend until smooth.

Add the flour and sugar. Beat together then add eggs and vanilla. Mix just until combined. Don't over mix. The batter will be thick.

Pour batter into prepared baking dish and spread out evenly. Bake 25 – 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove brownies from oven and let stand until cool.
French Silk Layer

In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and vanilla extract with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy. Add the powdered sugar and mix until combined.

In a small microwave safe bowl, heat the semi-sweet chocolate and unsalted butter in 30 second intervals until melted, stirring well between each cooking interval.

Add the melted chocolate and butter mixture to the cream cheese mixture and stir until well combined. Gently fold in the cool whip.

Spread the French silk layer over the cooled brownies.
Topping

Lastly, spread the remaining 8 ounce tub of cool whip over the French silk layer.

If desired, sprinkled chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips over this layer. Slice and serve.
Recipe Notes
To use a boxed brownie mix for the brownie layer:
1 box brownie mix
1 egg
5 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
1/4 cup milk
Combine ingredients, transfer to lined and greased 9 x 13 pan and bake at 350 degrees F for 25-28 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
This dessert will keep well covered or in an airtight container in the refrigerator for several days.
