Today we wanted to share a recipe for our white garlic pizza sauce.
This white garlic pizza sauce is an alternative to the traditional tomato basil sauce used for pizza. Within 5 minutes and very few ingredients, you can make this cheesy garlic pizza sauce.
This pizza sauce recipe is extra handy when you look into your cupboard and realize you don’t have any canned tomato products or no way to make traditional pizza sauce. Instead of throwing in the towel or having to drop everything to run to the store, you can instead throw together this yummy sauce.
You’ve probably tried a pizza that had a similar type of sauce. They typically have a creamy white sauce with some chicken, vegetables and sometimes even bacon. This white garlic pizza sauce is a copycat of what you would find on those pizzas.
How else can you use this sauce?
You can use this sauce for pizza but it also makes a yummy dipping sauce for bread sticks or pizza crust. You can also use this sauce as a mock Alfredo sauce and toss it with some pasta. If you do this you can even add vegetables and meat to make it a complete meal.

It will work for veggie dip to.
Hi Deana, it definitely could work as a warm dip for roasted veggies or cold as an alternative to ranch dip on a veggie tray! Thanks for your suggestion!
Have you developed a gluten free version?
Hi Nick, we have not yet developed a gluten free version of this recipe but plan to due to the request and need from those with this dietary restriction. Stay tuned for a gluten free version of this white garlic pizza sauce to come to our blog soon.
I just use gluten free flour in this recipe.
That is great. Thank you so much for sharing Kristi!
Just make a slurry of cornstarch and milk, heat untill thick then mix with your garlic and seasonings
Gluten free flour works too
Thank you so much for your suggestions!
Nick, I substituted the all purpose flour for a all purpose gluten free flour called Namaste plus 1 teaspoon of corn starch. It was wonderful.
Coul dnt u use corn starch instead of flour for this
Hi Cindy, you could try to use cornstarch instead of flour but may have to alter the recipe. The flour is used to make a bechamel or white sauce as a base to this sauce. You could definitely try to use an alternate flour or thickening agent if you’d like!
How about Almond flour or Almond Meal?
I use those as a substitute a lot.
Hi Cindy,
We definitely think you could use almond flour or meal as a substitute for all purpose flour. Great idea!
Do you use grated or shredded parmesan cheese?hair
Hi Jackie, we typically use whatever we have on hand. Sometimes we have grated or shredded parmesan but other times all we have is Kraft parmesan powder cheese. It all works out exactly the same!
I have a dairy allergy, can you suggest some alternatives.
Hi Laura Jean, you can absolutely use any alternative milk such as soy or almond milk. Just be sure to use an unflavored kind so it doesn’t give your garlic sauce a funny taste.
You can also use nutritional yeast instead of Parmesan cheese.
Hi Ashley,
That is a great alternative to parmesan cheese. Thank you so much for sharing!
Do you happen to know if this freezes well?
Hi Beth, we haven’t tried freezing it ourselves yet but we don’t see why it wouldn’t. We freeze many other sauces and soups for later use and they reheat quite well. If you give this a try, be sure to let us know how it freezes.
Thank you for following my blog!
You are very welcome! We look forward to seeing what you share! Thanks again!
This was delicious on our white pizza. My wife couldn’t stop complimenting it!
That’s so awesome Mike! I’m glad you all enjoyed it!
The sauce has a great garlic flavor and it was very easy to make. My son in law is a vegan. Any suggestions for a milk replacement. I cannot use Almond Milk because he’s allergic to nuts.
Hi Florence,
I’m so happy to hear you liked this white garlic pizza sauce. Other vegan milk replacement options you can try include; coconut, rice, oat, or soy milk. Thank you for your inquiry and please share how the sauce turns out with one of these milk variations.
Thank you,
Ashley Bilyeu
This sounds good. I have never heard of garlic sauce for pizza. Can I make the sauce in a electric skillet or microwave.
Hi Ilene,
Thank you for your inquiry. You can definitely try to make the garlic sauce for pizza in a electric skillet. We don’t know if it would work the same in the microwave but a skillet should work just fine. You have to be able to sauté your garlic and make a béchamel or white sauce base which you should be able to do just fine in a electric skillet but might be hard to complete in the microwave. We hope you give this recipe a try and let us know how it turns out!!
Thank you for answering me back. I am going to try and make the sauce next week. I like to make my own crust and make my own sauce
Hi Ilene,
You’re very welcome. We can’t wait to hear how you like it. We like to make our own crust and sauce too! Homemade is just the way to go!
Thanks again,
Ashley Bilyeu
I know you said you should be able to freeze this, but what about canning it?
Hi Terry, I really couldn’t say whether or not this is safe or if it would can well. I would look at a canning book and see if you can find a similar recipe and maybe you could give it a try. If it works out for you, please let us know. Thanks again!
Making this sauce today for our Shrimp and Bacon pizza. I have been using ranch dressing until now but this sounds so much better
Hi Deb,
That is so great to hear. We hope you gave this recipe a try. It is so good and would be great on a shrimp and bacon pizza. Please let us know how it turned out.
Thank you,
Ashley Bilyeu
