Old Fashioned Cornflake Candy

Today we’re sharing a recipe for Old Fashioned Cornflake Candy.  A heritage recipe you may remember from your grandmother.  Another name for this delicious peanut butter treat is Cornflake Cookies, Cornflake Treats or Cornflake Crack.  This candy recipe is only 4 ingredients, is easy to make and no candy thermometer is required.   

All about Old Fashioned Cornflake Candy

Old Fashioned Cornflake Candy is a crunchy, sweet, peanut butter treat.  If you’ve never had it before, it seems like an odd combination but it’s truly delicious and a little addicting too.  This candy is a great treat to make for your family or to give away for the holidays.  This recipe is a great candy to add to your holiday baking and candy making menu. 

This recipe is quite inexpensive and easy to make also.  It’s a simple blend of sugar, corn syrup, peanut butter and cornflake cereal to make delicious clusters, spoonfuls or shape into wreaths for the holidays.  You simply heat all the ingredients, stir in your cornflakes and drop into clusters on wax or parchment paper to set.  Some people heat these ingredients up on the stove but we typically use the microwave just as its quick and easy too.  Once they are set you can package them up into containers or decorative treat bags to keep or give away.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups cornflake cereal
  • 1 1/2 cups peanut butter
  • 1 cup karo syrup
  • 1 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. Add the peanut butter, karo syrup, and sugar to a microwave safe bowl. Stir the ingredients together and microwave 30 seconds to 1-minute intervals. Stir and return to microwave until all the sugar has dissolved.

  2. Add cornflake cereal. Stir to combine all ingredients. Drop onto wax or parchment paper to set.

  3. Once the candy has cooled and set, package in containers or bags to keep or give away as gifts.

How long will Old Fashioned Cornflake Candy keep?

These candies will keep at room temperature for several days or up to a week.  They’re so delicious that they don’t typically last long in our home though.  Old Fashioned Cornflake Candy is a great recipe to make ahead of time to have for a party, gathering, or just to give away.
