Quick Caramel Coffee Ring

Today we’re sharing a quick caramel coffee ring recipe.  This recipe uses canned biscuits to make an easy and delicious coffee cake in little time.  Make this caramel coffee ring for your next breakfast or brunch and it’s sure to be a hit.

This quick caramel coffee ring comes together so quickly and easily.  In less than an hour, you will have a delicious coffee cake and no one will ever know you started with canned biscuits.   We try to make as many recipes and dishes as we can from scratch but sometimes you need short-cuts and that calls for canned biscuits.    

The best way to make this caramel coffee ring is to use a bundt pan.  You can also use a regular cake pan or a large cast iron skillet.  We just enjoy the shape that making it in a bundt pan offers us.  It’s a little way of feeling a little more fancy with such a simple recipe.  

To make this delicious coffee ring, you first make a caramel sauce with butter and brown sugar.  This caramel sauce is what you drizzle on the bottom and throughout the biscuit mixture to create a delicious buttery caramel cake.  The best part of this coffee ring is that the caramel sauce develops a delicious crust on the underside of the cake.  With each piece, you will enjoy all the elements of this delicious coffee cake.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup nuts, chopped optional
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 2 cans of biscuits, cubed

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees F.

  2. In a small saucepan, melt butter.

  3. Coat bottom and sides of ungreased Bundt pan or baking dish with 2 tablespoons of melted butter.

  4. Sprinkle 3 tablespoons of chopped nuts over bottom of prepared pan if desired.

  5. Add remaining nuts brown sugar, water to remaining butter in pan. Heat to boiling. Remove from heat.

  6. Separate dough into 20 biscuits, and cut up each biscuit into 4 or 6 pieces. Roll cut up biscuit pieces into balls.

  7. Place half of the biscuit balls in the bottom of the pan. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the balls.

  8. Add the remaining half of biscuit balls and drizzle the remaining caramel sauce over the balls.

  9. Bake at 375 degrees F for 20-25 minutes. Turn out onto wax paper or platter once finished.

If you’ve never made a caramel coffee ring homemade before, we would highly encourage you to give it a try.  The canned biscuits practically make this a foolproof recipe.  You’ll end up with a delicious buttery and caramel coffee ring with little to no effort.  Make up your caramel sauce, cut up your biscuits, layer them in your dish and you’re done!

This caramel coffee ring will keep for several days at room temperature if stored in an airtight container or covered once cooled.  Place the coffee ring in the refrigerator for longer storage.
