You only need a couple ingredients and spices to be able to make this ranch dressing mix.  If you make up a good size batch you will have enough dressing mix for all of your ranch dressing needs and any other recipes that call for ranch seasoning.

This ranch dressing mix makes the best ranch dressing.  We don’t even care for store bought ranch dressing anymore.  This ranch dressing mix also is great as a seasoning on potatoes, chicken, pasta, pizza, burritos, wraps.  Really anywhere you would add ranch dressing or the seasoning of ranch, you can add this ranch mix.

Ingredients

  • 1 can buttermilk powder (12 oz can)
  • 1 tbsp chives, dried
  • 1 1/2 tbsp dill weed, dried
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp onion powder
  • 2 tbsp parsley, dried
  • 1 tsp black pepper, ground
  • 2 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. Transfer to an airtight container for storage.

  2. To make ranch dressing, combine 1/2 cup of sour cream, 1/2 of mayo, and 1 cup of buttermilk or milk with a couple tablespoons of ranch dressing mix.

Ranch dressing typically calls for sour cream, mayo, and milk.  Just be mindful of that when you are making ranch dressing as it will only stay good as long as these ingredients are still good and within date.

How long does homemade ranch dressing mix keep?

This ranch dressing mix stores well.  We keep ours in a French canning jar that has an airtight seal.  We have stored ranch dressing mix at room temperature for at least a couple of months this way and haven’t had any problems with it going bad.  If you don’t believe you will use it up in time or if you have concerns about it not keeping, you can also store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
