Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tsp dry yeast or one packet of yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt or plain greek yogurt

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt then make a well in the center of the mixture.

  2. Add the water to well in the center of the flour then add the sugar, then the yeast into the water and stir to combine with the water. Then allow it to sit for 5 minutes or until bubble begin to form.

  3. To the bowl, add the yogurt and mix the flour, water, and yogurt together until a dough forms. The dough will be a bit sticky but should form easily.

  4. Turn the dough out on a clean lightly floured surface and knead folding the dough over itself for 2-3 minutes.

  5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover loosely with plastic wrap then place in a warm place until it doubles in size. This takes approximately one hour.

  6. When doubled in size, divide into 8 pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and place it on a clean surface. Cover loosely with plastic wrap or towel and let rise for another 30 minutes.

  7. Roll each dough ball into a round or oval that is 1/4" thick.

  8. Heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.

  9. When the skillet is hot, add a dough piece and cook until the top begins to bubble then flip and cook for 1 additional minute or until lightly browned on both sides and cooked through.

  10. If desired, brush with garlic butter after removed from skillet.
