We love having this spice mix on hand so that we no longer have to purchase those seasoning packets.  You typically have all of these spices in your spice cabinet so it only makes sense to make up this seasoning for yourself and be able to save a little bit of money too.

Make a batch of this seasoning up today so that you will have it to make tacos, burritos, enchiladas, salsa, dips, taco soup or taco mac.  Obviously, ground beef tacos are the most popular use for taco seasoning.  But you can also use it with ground turkey, chicken or even as a rub or seasoning in burgers or meatloaf.

  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp oregano
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 1/2 tbsp cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. Transfer to an airtight container for storage.

  2. Use about 3 tablespoons of this DIY Taco Seasoning in place of a package of storebought taco seasoning.

How long will it keep?

This Taco Seasoning stores well.  We keep ours in an airtight container in our spice cabinet.  We have stored this mix at room temperature for at least a couple of months and haven’t had any problems with it going bad.  If you don’t believe you will use it up in time or have concerns about it not keeping, make smaller batches.
