Instant Pot Red Beans and Rice

A southern staple that is easy, delicious and healthy to make with your instant pot.

  • 1 lb kielbasa sausage
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil (or cooking oil of your choice)
  • 4 cups dry kidney or red beans
  • 6 cups water
  • 2 tsp creole or cajun seasoning
  • 2 tsp garlic, minced
  • rice of your choice, prepared
  • bread of your choice, if desired


  1. Cook rice in rice cooker or stove top according to directions.
  2. Wash red beans. Set aside.  
  3. Add tablespoon of avocado or cooking oil of your choice. Saute kielbasa sausage until sausage is browned to your liking.  
  4. Add bell pepper and onion and saute until onions are softened.  
  5. Add red beans, water, and spices to instant pot.

  6. Put instant pot on manual for 35 minutes and then let it naturally release pressure. 
  7. Serve bean mixture over rice.  Pair with fresh bread on the side.
