Homemade Sloppy Joes

Ingredients

  • 1 - 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 3 oz tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp bbq sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook ground beef, onion, and bell pepper. Cook until ground beef is browned. Drain excess fat from pan if necessary.

  2. Add tomato paste, water, brown sugar, worcestershire sauce, ketchup and bbq sauce.

  3. Add garlic powder, chili powder, cayenne pepper. Add salt and pepper to taste.

  4. Cook altogether for a few minutes until sauce thickens. Add more water if not saucy enough.

  5. Serve over slightly toasted buns either closed faced or open faced.
